Oklahoma Salmon
Zinnia elegans. Fluffy, medium-sized flowerheads with long but strong stems growing up to between 30–40" tall. The petals of Oklahoma Salmon blends warm pinks and corals to create unique blooms that pair well with a variety of other colours. The Oklahoma series is prolific and consistently produces double and semi-double blooms with a long vase life, which is why they are a favourite of professional flower farmers. Queeny Lime Orange
Zinnia elegans. We grew a wide range of Zinnias in the summer field trials, but this one really stood out. Queeny Lime Orange Zinnias have branching stems that grow to about 90cm (36") tall. Atop each stem is a flower of immense beauty that starts out lime green, but as its petals unfold they turn to deep peach and then orange. This colour range looks wonderful in bouquets. As cut flowers they are long lasting and luxuriant, and in the garden they are abuzz with bumble bees. The plants respond well to cutting, with more flowers forming all the time. The bloom period is from mid-summer right into September.

Soleado
Zinnia haageana. Planting Soleado zinnia seeds in the spring results in a jubilant display of single flowers with two-tone orange petals surrounding concentric circles of mahogany and yellow. The plants are tougher than other Zinnias and will stand up to nearly any weather conditions, blooming right into fall. Plant height to 45cm (18"). Direct sow after last frost, in April and May on the coast. Zinnias don't transplant well, but you can try starting some indoors in peat or coir pots 6-8 weeks before planting out. Maintain a soil temperature of 21-26°C (70-80°F). Seeds should germinate in 5-24 days.

How to grow
Timing: Direct sow after any threat of frost as passed. Zinnias don't transplant well, but may succeed by starting some indoors in peat or coir pots 6-8 weeks before plating out.
Seeding: Just cover Zinnia seeds, and aim for a final spacing of 25-30cm (10-12") between plants. Maintain a soil temperature of 21-26 degrees C (70-80F). Seeds should germinate in 5-24 days.
Growing: Grow in average, well-drained garden soil, but dig in a generous amount of well-rotted manure the previous fall. Pinch off growing tips early in the season for bushier growth. Water regularly, keeping leaves as dry as possible. Deadhead regularly. Feed once in early spring, and again once flowering has begun.
