Trap & Lure - Rose Chafer

Price

C$52.99

The rose chafer (Macrodactylus subspinosus) is a North American beetle that feeds on the leaves, flowers of many plants, but especially roses. The adults will feed on the leaves, blooms and fruit of roses but also of grape vines, apple, peach and chestnut trees and many other garden plants. In sandy soils, their larvae will feed on roots below the soil surface.

Adults are active between late May to mid-June, and can form large swarms of up to 100 beetles per plant and cause extensive damage.

These traps are designed to reduce the population of rose chafers and limit damage caused. The use of the trap is not a complete control but a management tool.  The floral lure consists in a highly concentrated rose scent without any pheromones. Therefore, proper placement is important.

It is recommended to also use other managmeent approaches such as handpicking or vacuuming during infestations.
