The Spongy moth (Lymantria dispar dispar or "LLD", previously known as European Gypsy moth) is an invasive pest that destroys trees by feeding on their leaves or needles. When severe outbreaks occurs, it can cause significant defoliation of trees over large areas.
The LLD moth trap works by attracting the male moths to prevent fertilization. The males emerge before the females and are attracted to the female scent lure within the trap. Place traps out in early July. One lure lasts one season (keep lure in the freezer until use). Replace sticky inserts when full. The trap's weatherproof cardboard construction makes it usable over multiple seasons.
